Mixed Media Experimentation

'Mixed Media Experimentation'

I covered the double pages in torn paper, some of it being patterned that linked in with my research on Moorish arches. I have chosen the theme of Moorish architecture because I see a lot of it on my travels through southern Spain. These theme links with both my interest in travelling and photography.

I have used a range of materials including oil pastel - scratching through layers to reveal the colours underneath, painting on toast!, working back into colour prints and photocopies using pen, apint and pastels.

Inspired by the work of the artist Susan Libby, I used the software program 'Jasc Paintshop Pro' to complete my experimentations. I imported images from the internet and layered them with different effects, you could use your own photographs - you would gain more marks in Assessment Objective 1 and 3.

I looked at the work of environmental artist Andy Goldsworthy because it linked to my idea of travelling through the countryside everyday to get home. I used the colours of Autumn in my experimentations. I also used torn photocopies and parcel paper in the background.
